2024-2025 Residence Life Information

Thanksgiving 2024 Break: Residence Halls will CLOSE for Thanksgiving Break on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 9:00 am and will REOPEN on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 12:00 pm.  There will be no Dining Services during this break.

  • Requests to Stay Over Thanksgiving Break must be completed and submitted by 5 pm on Monday, November 11, 2024.
    *$25.00 fee per night for approved students, to stay over Thanksgiving Break, charges will be applied to the student account in the Cashier’s Office. Official College breaks where Residence Halls close are not included in Fall 2024 Housing fees.

Winter Break 2024: Saturday, December 14, 2024 - Saturday, January 11, 2025
Residence Halls Closed

  • Students returning for Spring 2025 housing must check out 24 hours after their last exam. Students living in Asbury and Thompson Halls must check out in the Henson Hall office upon departure and return their keys. Keys may be returned to the Henson Hall office Monday, December 9, 2024, through Friday, December 13, 2024, between the hours of 9:00 am-5:00 pm. 
    Access to all other Residence Halls is electronically turned off during Winter Break.
     
  • Students not returning for Spring 2025 Housing must check out by 5 pm on Friday, December 13, 2024.
    Please schedule a check-out time by emailing wisehousing@uvawise.edu.
    Smith Dining Commons and all retail operations are closed from Saturday, December 14, 2024 - Saturday, January 11, 2025. The College is officially closed from Monday, December 23 - Sunday, January 5, 2025.

Spring 2025 Housing Applications:  If you are a new student/transfer student for the Spring 2025 semester, the Housing Portal will open on Monday, October 14, 2024, to complete your housing application. 

Need to Submit a Work Order?  Contact your RA and they can submit one on your behalf! The maintenance department processes work orders Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Orientation for new students

New students (freshmen, transfers & readmits) complete a 3-step Orientation process prior to enrolling at UVA Wise:

  1. Information modules (online, self-paced)
  2. Advising & Registration (zoom, by appointment)
  3. @ Wise Day (in-person for student & up to 2 guests)

Signup invitation emails are sent to the personal email of all confirmed students.  After signup, all information is sent ONLY to the UVA Wise email, so be sure to check if often and regularly.

Expedition for new freshmen (fall only)

All new UVA Wise freshmen (residential & commuter) will participate in Expedition on Sunday before classes begin each fall.  This students-only event provides a full-day of interaction and fun to give you additional timely information for a successful start to your first semester at UVA Wise.  You will participate as a team of fellow students led by an upperclass Expedition Leader (EL).

FY Fridays (fall only)

After the start of each fall semester, be sure to watch your UVA Wise email for more information about First-Year Fridays!  Held each Friday for the first six weeks of the fall semester, OSE will provide you with essential resources and giveaways right when you need them. 

While FY Fridays are specifically planned for freshmen, they are actually open to all UVA Wise students! 😀
