Description
This course will introduce students to modern postcolonial literature through encounters with a range of cultural objects (poetry, fiction, television) from the mid-20th century through the present day, both in the English language and in translation. We will examine the relationship between colonialism, imperialism, and literary form, tracking the strategies that creators use to comment on how the cultural, political, economic, and environmental legacies of colonial histories impact the world we live in today.
